Air Force Contract

Quality Manager

Mikro Aids Surgeons

December 11th, 2008

Mikro Systems fabricated a critical component for an innovative mobile “gamma camera,” used by surgeons in a recent clinical trial at the University of Virginia (UVA) Hospital. The trial evaluated performance of the mobile gamma camera for surgical guidance in sentinel lymph node biopsies for cancer patients.

Mikro Raises Equity

October 9th, 2008

Working with the investment banking firm of Cary Street Partners and the law firm of LeClair Ryan, Mikro Systems Inc. (Mikro) has successfully completed the first of two rounds aimed at raising up to $2.5 million in equity capital. The May-June round successfully raised more than $1.1 million; a second round in October is expected to raise the balance. The proceeds from the equity raise are being used to recruit and hire additional personnel and acquire additional equipment to support scale-up of manufacturing production.

Imaging Patent Issued

October 9th, 2008

On April 15, 2008, Mikro Systems’ “Devices, Methods, and Systems for Imaging” (No. 7,358,502 B1) was issued by the U.S. Patent Office. The patent discloses a novel imaging plate for use in Digital Radiography and Computed Radiography. X-ray detectors based on imaging plate technology can be used as the primary radiation detector in many fields, including diagnostic medical imaging, structural biology research and non-destructive testing.

Financing Approved

October 9th, 2008

Mikro Systems Inc. has been approved by the Virginia Small Business Finance Authority (VSBFA) for a $400,000 loan to help finance the company’s expansion and scale-up of manufacturing operations. Mikro Systems will use the loan proceeds to help finance major equipment purchases needed to expand their manufacturing capacity, estimating that the proceeds from this loan will lead to approximately 15 new full-time positions within the next two to three years.

On August 12, 2008, two new Mikro Systems’ patents were issued by the U.S. Patent Office: “Methods for Manufacturing Three-Dimensional Devices and Devices Created Thereby” (No. 7,410,606 B2) and “Devices, Methods and Systems Involving Castings” (No. 7,411,204 B2).
